Short course on using the Web Services Resource Framework with GlobusWeb services enable numerous scientific and business applications, especially in Grid and Cloud computing. A one-day course offered by the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) on June 15th will provide an introduction to web services in the grid context and the essentials needed for the development of new services using tools included in the Globus Toolkit 4. Web services will be reviewed, delineating their essential components and corresponding methods for implementation. The WS resource framework takes into account Grid-specific requirements like stateful resources and security. Its implementation in GT 4.0 will be demonstrated by a series of examples. A hands-on session will allow the participants to generate and modify some of these simple services. Familiarity with Java will be assumed and basic knowledge about Globus would be helpful. The course was recorded and is available at SuGI portal. |
